Why Sometimes A Tooth Extraction Is Your Best Option.

tooth extraction
The extraction or removal of teeth is a part of dental services provided by Carolina Dentistry @ The StateLine. One of the primary goals for all dentists is to preserve the integrity of the teeth. Here at Carolina Dentistry @ The StateLine we take a very conservative approach to our patients’ dental needs. We also understand there are times when a tooth extraction is necessary. Why you may need a tooth extraction? -Sometimes a tooth is so severely infected it does not respond to antibiotics or root canal treatment. An infected tooth must be treated as the infection can spread throughout the body. Other times a tooth is broken or has large amounts of decay leaving a minimal amount of tooth structure to treat. -Advanced stages of periodontal disease can result in the need for tooth extraction. As the severity periodontal disease increases the loss of bone and surrounding supporting structures increases leaving the tooth mobile. -Orthodontic treatment may require tooth extraction for ample spacing of teeth. While these are just a few examples of the need for a tooth extraction many others require treatment. While you may feel some slight discomfort during the procedure Carolina Dentistry @ The StateLine wants all of our patients to be as comfortable both during the procedure and after. Dr. Schwartz will inform you of any post op instructions should you need extraction treatment at Carolina Dentistry @ The StateLine.
