Tips to Maintain a Healthy Mouth

A bright and healthy smile is important to your mental and physical health! It is not only important for chewing and speaking but also helps to give you confidence! Unhealthy teeth may be painful, result in eating softer less nutritious foods, negatively affect speech or cause low self-esteem. A nice smile is very important in the physical attractiveness to others. It’s one of the fist things we see of each other. Missing, chipped or discolored teeth can dull your smile and appearance. Our goal at Carolina Dentistry @ The StateLine is to help you develop and continue to have a healthy and confident smile. Here are some tips on what to do in order to give you a jump start on the smile of your dreams! Pay us a visit: Here at Carolina Dentistry @ The StateLine we want to help you achieve and maintain the results you are looking for. We understand that many of individuals don’t visit the dentist regularly but here at Carolina Dentistry @ The StateLine our dentistry is of the highest quality. We work with many dental insurance companies to get you the most benefits possible. We listen to your needs. Brush twice or more a day: It takes about 2 minutes of thorough brushing at a minimum of twice a day to properly clean your teeth and gums. It is important to brush properly to avoid damage to your gums. Angle your toothbrush at a 45 degree angle to the teeth and make small circular motions as you go. We also advise to change your toothbrush at least every 3 months per the American Dental Association or after being sick. Flossing: We also recommend to floss at least once a day. Flossing is crucial to good oral health. Flossing removes plaque and food build up from between the teeth which left behind will start to the process of tooth decay and gum disease. Also flossing helps to reduce tartar build up in between your regular hygiene appointments. Flossing should be done with care and attention. Cut down on the sugar: We all know that too much sugar is a bad thing for your diet but also for your teeth. Sugar fuels bacteria and acid production in your mouth. Bacteria production leads to plaque eating away at your teeth and gums. It takes 20 minutes every time you eat sugary foods or have sugary drinks for your mouth to recover from the acid attack.
