Mouthwash, Is It Right For You?

mouthwash
Should you be using a mouthwash? There are times when our skilled hygienist or dentist will recommend using a mouthwash in conjunction with brushing and flossing. Carolina Dentistry @ The StateLine wants our patients to remember rinsing with a mouthwash will not take the place of brushing or flossing. The uses of mouthwash Most mouthwashes are recommended to freshen breath throughout the day or after consumption of flavourful foods. These mouthwashes offer temporary relief for bad breath. They also can help remove some food debris and plaque buildup. Other mouthwashes can aid in the prevention of tooth decay commonly referred to as cavities. These mouthwashes contain fluoride and may be recommended along with the recommendation of daily brushing. Some mouthwashes also help with tooth sensitivity. Often relief for tooth sensitivity is found with using mouth liquid containing fluoride. Carolina Dentistry @ The StateLine Dr. Schwartz may prescribe an antimicrobial mouthwash for those patients whose oral health is periodontal involved. These prescription mouthwashes should only be used as prescribed by your dentist. When choosing the best mouthwash for you ask for advice and recommendations from one of our team members at Carolina Dentistry @ The StateLine. We look forward to providing dental care to those patients in North and South Carolina.
